Tips and Tricks: Closer

Get Closer!
The problem I see most often from amateur work is it's just too removed! Zoom lenses are great, but they do not convey the same feeling nor quality as physically getting closer to your subject - the way a zoom lens presents distance is radically different from physically moving.
Move as close as you can to your subject in order to fill the viewfinder. Doing so will result in less background clutter and will allow you to enhance the details of the intended subject.
The image above is a good example. When using the zoom from a distance to take a picture there is a loss of definition and there is also an unwanted haze. When taking a picture up close the image is clear and clean. Same can be said when taking pictures of people as emotions and detail are much more crisp and at times the subject is more "in touch" with the photographer and it shows.
