All These Settings!!!
You know that little dial you use to turn your camera on? Ever notice there are a few extra settings on there other than on and off? We're going to go through those, and why and how they can help improve your images by a significant amount. We'll start by explaining how your camera functions in a basic sense, and how that affects your images. This is the basic framework of photography, and needs to be understood before real growth can occur. If you've read through this section and something still doesn't make sense, please don't hesitate to e-mail us with your questions at questions@homephoto.com and we will try and get back with you when possible.
It is important to remember that photography is centered on light. Basically all a camera is doing is recording the light inherent in a scene, and there are several things that affect how it sees light, how long it sees light for, and what quality that light has.
Digital cameras function similarly to film cameras - a shutter opens to expose the sensor (instead of film) to light, the sensor records the image, and the shutter closes.
